Faith. Either you have it or you don’t. One could say that they have faith without ever demonstrating it but South Carolina has decided to allow people of faith the opportunity to display their faith on their license plates.

The “I Believe” faith plates are drawing the attention of the ACLU as expected but their always bitching about something when it involves religion. The idea of these “faith plates” is even getting negative press from religious leaders who argue that the separation of church and state is being muddled by government entities issuing license plates that advocate faith.

I just don’t agree and see it as nothing different from any other “vanity” plate. If someone is willing to pay the $70 annual fee for a custom license plate that they want to display on a vehicle they own then why not. Why is it any different then someone customizing a plate that reads “Sexy Bitch” or some other vain statement.

It’s been a month since I bought a domain but today I was searching Whois and found a gem in MandevilleDoctors.com. When I realized it was available I quickly registered it at 1and1.com.

Mandeville, Louisiana is located about 45 miles north of New Orleans just across Lake Ponchartrain. It has been growing steadily over the past 10 years and since Hurricane Katrina it has really become a fast growing city offering a high standard of living and some of the best schools.

No matter what position you take on war and fighting one thing you should realize and remember is that your freedom isn’t free. I know it’s cliche but it’s true. As I sit here and write this post I am thankful for many things. I’m thankful that someone is willing to defend my right and freedom to express myself whether blogging or speaking in the street. That’s the beauty and the reason why anyone who wants to live in America should be thankful to the soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen as well. We as Americans seem to take way too much for granted. Just because the tornado didn’t wipe out your town or the earthquake didn’t rock your world doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. And it’s sad to see so many go about their merry way living their own lives as selfishly as if it can’t happen to them.

Today, I’m remembering the fallen and their families and thank them for my freedom.

Today I’ve ventured into the realm of ebay as a means to market my brandable domain Bargantuan.

Obviously, it’s a play on the word Gargantuan. In today’s tight economy where bargain shopping is more important then ever it’s a great name. The word “bargain” appears in over 56 million pages on the web and based on SEO Book Keyword Tool the word “bargain” is searched for 245 times and “bargains” 226 times.

No, it’s not a keyword and no one will Stumble Upon it. It’s a brandable domain name that’s memorable, fun, and descriptive. It’s like BIG LOT’S only BIGGER. It’s BARGANTUAN!

Well, it’s been just about 3 months since I purchased my first 56 domains as investments. Since that time I’ve read a lot of other blogs and got a feel for what the seasoned domainers have been doing to make money in this business. What I’ve come to realize is that in the beginning domaining was all about buying a “keyword” or “keywords”, parking the landing pages with a PPC company, and watching the money roll in as internet users typed in what they were looking for and added dot com to the end. Bingo!… they found there new pair of shoes.

Early domainers got rich off of one word domains like shoes.com (and still are) but in my humble opinion those days are fading into history. Sure, Shoes.com will always make money unless technology takes us to a place where our feet don’t touch the ground but that’s something for the Jetsons.

The reason I decided to write this post is because I get these “expired lists” everyday and when I scan through them I shake my head because those who registered the names listed were hoping to turn a profit based on the principals of the early days of domaining - i.e., buy two words that make no sense when sounded together but make money because the search engines would return results with either of the words in the domains. Don’t get me wrong. I would have loved to have been into this business early on and made money on names that just don’t make good sense grammatically but make money because they contain two words that might make up a sentence like smellnose.com or energydung.com.

Those of us who are getting into this business now don’t have much to choose from in the “never registered before” category but that’s where my money goes for the time being. I’m not in the position to pay big bucks for “keyword domains” that will only make money as a parked domain and no sense to anyone for anything else. I think the days of parking are numbered and I’m in the process of providing my visitors with something novel like what they’re actually looking for. Most of my domains are two and three word phrases that make sense when said together. They’re catchy and most of all memorable. I hate parked pages and internet users do too!

I thought I’d write about a program that I’m watching tonight on CNBC about the use of biometrics to build databases about everyone — not just the criminals. Biometrics has been used for many years but the faster technology changes come online the more useful the biometric data becomes. Supposedly, all this will allow us more freedom because we will be able to travel unobstructed because facial recognition, iris scans and fingerprint profiles will quickly and accurately identify people as the wait to board planes, trains and automobiles. Not sure if I agree. Most people don’t realize how much there information has been recorded and stored for a long, long time it may not matter to them but it should and it will real soon. Keep your eyes on the future. I know I will be.
